| In this mobile world, we want better control. The touchscreen and pen is one way but still tedious. The remote control with one key was simple, with lots of remotes and lots of keys - it's confusing The zonepad makes it simple with lots of keys, and can be used for everything. |

the Zonepad - a different approach Most of the time all we want is access to the web, email and the ability to enter documents, perhaps with spreadsheet like tables. - Everything easily viewed on the screen - no scrolling, easy navigation, preferably with keys. - We don't want the fear of viruses and other nasties every time we do simple tasks over the web. - It would be nice to be able to do this wherever we are, whether it is on a train or even sitting in an armchair in front of the tv. - We would really like to use any available screen, including the tv, at the same time, why not let it be the remote control for everything. - And when we have powerful stuff to do we use it as the control input to a powerful computer (you only need one PC not one per person). - None of this is difficult, the applications are there, but not in a single package. and it would not use much power. The catalyst to make it happen is the input method. The mouse and keyboard are acceptable on the desk, everywhere else they are more inconvenient. Compromise inputs are usable on the move but you wouldn't use them at the desk. What you need is an input method that is easy to use on the move and just as easy at you desk. It is possible. The input method has to replace the mouse and keyboard with a more intuitive approach. It has to be contextual - changing depending on the current task with a way of identifying which key to press without having to look away from the screen. The solution is the Zonepad. |
